Wedding Cake Toppers - more than just the icing!

Resolved Question: Whats with the tradition of saving the top layer of your wedding cake?

Just curious…I’ve seen a few questions on here dealing with cake, and they have mentioned how you are supposed to save and freeze the top layer and eat it on your one year anniversary. Isnt that kinda….yucky? by then? Hahaha…. I mean, its frozen so I know it didnt go bad…but…year old frozen cake just doesnt sound that great.

Anyone actually succeed in eating their cake a year later? How was it?
