How About A Groom’s Cake

Ready for the next thing to hit the wedding circuit? I’m sure that you have either heard of, or seen, a wedding cake. They are quite popular at almost every wedding ceremony. The next incarnation of the wedding tradition is something called the groom’s cake. So, just what is a groom’s cake? We are glad you asked because we aim to tell you. We will be exploring the world of the groom’s cake in this article.
Originally from the Southern United States, the groom’s cake was originally thought of as an added expense. It has been making a huge comeback. The whole idea originally was that this was to be a gift from the bride to the groom. Usually made from chocolate or soaked in liquor, it tends to have a much more “masculine” tone than a regular wedding cake. You won’t see any rosettes or flowers on this cake.
It is a very multi-functional and adaptable cake. For example it can be used as a desert at the rehearsal dinner while the regular wedding cake is used at the actual wedding. It usually sits right next to the bride’s cake, and is later cut into pieces and given to the wedding guests as a tasty treat that they can enjoy later.
Now let’s add a bit of folklore. Tradition states that if a single woman places a slice of the groom’s cake under her pillow the same night that she receives it, then she will dream of her future husband. Not sure if any single women have actually done this.
Interested in wedding favors? Sliced pieces of the groom’s cake can also be wedding favors. Be sure to get creative with the packaging. Packaging will help to reflect the bridal style that you wish to convey to your guests.
Currently the creative trend in groom’s cakes is to have the cake reflect the groom’s interests and hobbies. You should do this because you want to, not because you are obligated to. You should also ensure that the theme of the groom’s cake is appropriate for the wedding you want to throw. If you want an elegant wedding, having a groom’s cake that looks like modern art might not fit into the puzzle very well.
