Resolved Question: cake toppers.. can I paint over one?

Posted on Aug 31, 2009 under Wedding Cake Toppers Q&A | No Comment

I’ve been looking for a cake topper for my June wedding. I really like the funny ones but I can’t seem to find a red head bride and a blonde groom in the styles I like. Can I paint the hair of the groom on a cake topper without completely messing it up and needing to buy a new one? As far as painting just the hair, I’m sure I can do that, but would it ruin the topper or flake off or something. Any thought? or suggestions on a funny/cute cake topper, blonde groom red head bride?

Voting Question: Any ideas for a firefighter wedding?!?!?

Posted on Aug 31, 2009 under Wedding Cake Toppers Q&A | No Comment

My fiance and I are going to get married a few months after he graduates from the fire academy and his profession is really important to the both of us. We have some ideas about a firefighter cake and toppers, but I could definitely use some more about other stuff. We live in Florida and were thinking about renting an antique fire truck to drive off on after the reception instead of a car or a limo. Any ideas or help would really be appreciated by both of us. Thanks!
I forgot to add that it will be a smaller wedding. We have been together for a long time so we just want something intimate with family and close friends. Pictures would also be great if possible!

Decorate Your Cake With Wedding Cake Toppers

Posted on Aug 30, 2009 under Wedding Cake Toppers | No Comment

by Kathy Vinson
The day of your wedding is closing in and you have chosen everything you want down to the color of the plates. When it comes to ordering the cake most people have an idea in their head of what they want but you do not have to stop there, why just have mediocre when you can go all out with wedding cake toppers, there are so many available that you can choose one just for you!
You can get wedding cake toppers that are edible or if you wish to have a special reminder besides the photographs you can get them made of many different materials so you have a keepsake of the day to maybe pass down to children.
Although some people prefer the traditional look others like to have the bride and groom personalized so that they can look just like you both, no matter your skin tone, hair type or length or the outfit, you are able to make a miniature you to put on the top of your cake.
The topper can be made so that they do not have to stand up like the traditional kind, they can be sitting, kneeling or even lying down. You could make the toppers to recreate a favorite story, play or scene from a film. You may even have a favorite band that you wish to reflect in your topper, anything is a possibility! If you have a favorite sport or even pet, they could be included also.
Why not have the topper as your initials linked or even of you both wearing something other than your bridal dress and suit? You could both be wearing beach outfits if that is something you like to do together, riding bikes or even on surf boards, the choices are endless.
Why not add some humor to the big day, after all the dry jokes that are cracked during the speeches are only funny after a few trips to the bar. If you are constantly on the Internet, or using your phone, you could be doing the same on your cake. Many people joke in some relationships that the woman wears the mans trousers, or about a wedding being like a ball and chain, this would definitely be a conversation piece if you were to reflect this in your cake topper.
As there are more marriages of the same sex, more celebrities coming out also you do not have to just have a woman and man on the top of your cake, you could have two men or two women on their, wearing whatever you wish. It’s a new world, you state the possibilities. Even peoples pets are tying the knot so who says that they should not be able to have a topper created in their image or even reflect their personality or include their favorite toys.
As everyone in the world is their own person and has their own special qualities, why not put these across? No matter whether you want to go traditional or have something that shouts out, this is mini-me, it’s your wedding, your choice and your big day. So make sure you have a topper that is as special as you both.

Resolved Question: How’s the beginning of my fairy tale?

Posted on Aug 29, 2009 under Wedding Cake Toppers Q&A | No Comment

I’m absolutely in love with authors such as Gail Carson Levine, author of Ella Enchanted. She inspired me to twist and turn fairy tales, so if you like those sorts of books, then please honestly tell me if you saw this type of book, would you continue reading it? Quick synopsis:
There are fairy tales—and then there are “twisted” fairy tales. Mine is certainly one of them. First, I do have a stepsister, but she’s actually very kind to me, much like a real sister. If this hasn’t given you the chills yet—take this, the very same Prince Charming who’s supposed to sweep me off my feet—is the very villain of my story. (At least, I think so, anyways,) I have a stepmother who doesn’t want to halt my wedding—but rather speed up the process. Then there’s a strange mysterious smoke sweeping across the kingdoms and putting all the kings to sleep, and no one can figure out how or why. So, I’m taking the journey to Merlin because we have some serious business to take care of, and maybe along the way—just see how much more twisted this can get.
