A wedding cake has a special place in the wedding occasion. Wedding cakes are made and decorated with utmost care and passion. Most wedding cakes have more than 3 tiers and they are decorated beautifully. They will even have a statue on the top of the cake or small dolls which look like a bride and a groom.
Wedding cakes usually have heavy icing and topping on them. The wedding cake is cut by the bride and the groom together and some even use a sword to cut these cakes. In some cultures the bride feeds the cake to the entire groom’s family as symbolic way to take care of the household. In some traditions the bride and the groom feed the cake to each other. Later on the cake is cut and fed to all the guests. Some traditions believe that if the bridesmaid slept with a piece of cake under her pillow then she may dream about her future husband.
Different traditions have different reasons to cut a cake, but now in modern weddings a wedding cake has become more than a tradition. For some an expensive cake means a symbol of status, for some a cute looking cake is having fun on their wedding. Some couples choose to follow traditions like some couples even go to the extent of storing a piece of their wedding cake so that they can have it on their first wedding anniversary. There are some cultures which believe in this practice.
Every possible effort is made to make the wedding cake look special. Wedding cake toppers are used for the final decoration of the wedding cake. Wedding cake toppers are small models of dolls. Some dolls look like the bride and the groom, in this combination itself there are so many variants. Some use gold rings, some use doves, and some even use horse shoe which is known to ward off the effects of evil eye.
